THE HONEST ANSWER

Cyber Essentials certification costs vary — there is no single fixed price across the industry. Pricing depends on your organisation size, which level of certification you require (standard or Plus), and which certification body you use.

What we can tell you is what to expect, and what to watch out for.

WHAT AFFECTS THE PRICE?

  • Organisation size: Larger organisations with more devices, users, and complexity cost more to assess
  • CE vs CE Plus: Plus involves a technical audit, so it requires more assessor time and costs more
  • Scope: The number of sites, cloud services, and device types in scope affects complexity
  • Readiness: If your controls need significant work before assessment, remediation time adds cost
  • Certification body: Different bodies charge different fees for the same certification

CYBER ESSENTIALS — TYPICAL PRICE RANGES

Standard Cyber Essentials (self-assessment) is the most affordable option. Pricing is based on organisation size using UK Government criteria. The table below shows Vincent Cyber Defence's fixed 2026 prices — the IASME certification fee is included, and there are no hidden charges. Before you start, use our CE readiness checklist to check your controls are in place.

Organisation Size Employees CE Price
Micro0–9£320 + VAT
Small10–49£440 + VAT
Medium50–249£500 + VAT
Large250+£600 + VAT

All prices include the IASME certification fee, assessor review, guided submission support, certificate, digital badge, NCSC register listing, and UK-based support throughout. Organisation size is based on your total headcount, not the number of employees in scope for the assessment. View full pricing →

CYBER ESSENTIALS PLUS — TYPICAL PRICE RANGES

Cyber Essentials Plus costs more due to the independent technical audit. The assessor needs to remotely test your devices, scan your network, and verify controls are working — this takes time and expertise.

Expect Plus to cost meaningfully more than standard CE, with the gap widening for larger or more complex organisations. Before committing to Plus, use our CE Plus readiness checklist to assess your current position against the audit requirements.

Our approach: Vincent Cyber Defence provides fixed-price quotes with no hidden fees. You know the full cost upfront — no surprise invoices after the assessment. View our current pricing →

WHAT SHOULD YOU WATCH OUT FOR?

  • Hidden remediation charges: Some providers charge extra if issues are found during assessment. We provide guided submission support so you know what needs fixing before you commit
  • Fail and recharge fees: Check whether a failed assessment means paying again. Our first-time pass focus is designed to avoid this entirely. For CE Plus specifically, note that if issues are found during the audit you have 30 days from the assessment start date to remediate — and this sits within the 90-day window from your CE basic certification date. If either window expires before CE Plus is passed, you must re-certify at CE basic level before restarting, which adds to your overall cost
  • Vague scoping: Make sure the quote is for your actual environment — not a stripped-back scope that excludes cloud services or mobile devices you rely on
  • Unnecessary upselling: You do not need to buy consultancy, training, or additional products to get certified. Certification is straightforward if your controls are in place

IS CYBER ESSENTIALS WORTH THE COST?

For most UK businesses, yes — and often significantly so. Beyond the mandatory requirement for government contracts, certificate holders benefit from:

  • Cyber insurance benefits included with some IASME certifications
  • Commercial advantage when tendering — many enterprises prefer certified suppliers
  • Genuine security improvement that reduces the risk of a costly breach
  • A foundation for further certifications like ISO 27001 or DCC Level 0
